Frequently asked questions
Can the company wipe an employee's personal device?
With MDM, companies usually wipe only the managed work container. A full device wipe is reserved for situations like loss or theft where there's no other way to protect company data. State the scope clearly and get consent up front.
Is BYOD cheaper than issuing company devices?
It can reduce hardware spend, but adds security, support, and compliance overhead. For roles handling sensitive data, company-managed devices are often safer. Weigh cost against risk for each role.
What happens to company data when someone leaves?
Access is revoked and company data is removed from the device, typically by un-enrolling it from MDM or wiping the managed container. Build this step into your offboarding checklist.
