How to use this template
- 1
Keep the core constant
Ask the same five core questions every cycle so you build a reliable trend line you can act on.
- 2
Rotate one theme
Add two or three rotating questions per pulse from the bank to explore a current focus like workload, recognition, or change.
- 3
Field on a fixed rhythm
Run monthly or quarterly on the same day so the cadence becomes predictable and response rates stay healthy.
- 4
Show movement
Share the trend versus the last pulse, name one action you are taking, and avoid surveying again until you have closed the loop.
Frequently asked questions
How is a pulse survey different from an engagement survey?
A pulse is short, frequent, and built to track movement, while a full engagement survey is longer and run once or twice a year to diagnose every driver in depth. Use them together.
How often should we send pulses?
Monthly or quarterly works for most teams. The right cadence is the fastest one at which you can still share results and take visible action before the next pulse goes out.
Won't frequent surveys cause fatigue?
Only if nothing happens with the results. Keep pulses short, always close the loop with one concrete action, and fatigue stays low because people see their input matters.
