Frequently asked questions
What's a standard vesting schedule?
Four-year vesting with a one-year cliff is the norm — 25% vests at the one-year mark, then monthly or quarterly thereafter. The cliff protects the company if a hire leaves early.
What is a post-termination exercise window?
The period after leaving in which an employee can exercise vested options — often 90 days, though some companies extend it. Track it carefully so departing employees aren't surprised into forfeiting equity.
Should this replace my cap table?
No. This tracker gives HR and managers quick visibility into grants and vesting, but the legal record of ownership lives on your cap table or equity platform. Keep the two reconciled.
