Best eHour Alternatives

eHour's free self-hosted edition no longer gets security fixes, so teams that need on-premise timesheets are moving to maintained open-source or hosted tools.

The open-source edition has been retired. eHour no longer ships updates or security fixes for the self-hosted version, so organizations running it on their own servers are carrying unpatched code. The replacement is a paid SaaS hosted in the EU, which does not suit teams that chose eHour specifically to keep timesheet data on-premise.

eHour and its alternatives at a glance

ToolBest forStarting price
eHour (current)Project teams logging billable hours in weekly timesheets with JiraQuote-based
Infor WFMInfor ERP shops with union rules and credential-based shiftsQuote-based (est. ~$6–$18 PEPM)
EmpMonitorSmall offices wanting screenshots and app tracking under $6 a seatQuote-based
Open Time ClockNonprofits and schools needing a free web time clockQuote-based

Teams happy to pay per user and move to hosted software can stay on the new eHour SaaS, which imports data from version 1.4.3 installs and adds Jira time logging. Those who need a maintained self-hosted tool should export projects, users and past timesheets now, while the old install still runs.

Questions buyers ask

Is eHour still open source?

The open-source, on-premise edition still runs but receives no further releases, maintenance updates or security fixes. Active development has moved to a hosted SaaS priced per user, with a 14-day free trial. Teams that need self-hosting should plan a migration to a maintained tool.
