Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a code of conduct and a handbook?

A code of conduct sets the principles and behavioral standards, while the handbook covers the full set of operational policies. The code is usually shorter, values-driven, and acknowledged separately, then referenced throughout the handbook.

How often should we update the code of conduct?

Review it at least annually and whenever laws, your values, or your operating model change. Re-collecting acknowledgements after material updates keeps it enforceable.

Does it apply to contractors and vendors?

Core expectations around ethics, respect, and confidentiality typically extend to contractors and key vendors. State this explicitly in the scope section and reference it in their agreements.
